Airborne LiDAR
3D laser scanning technology called “LiDAR” (Light Detection And Ranging) establishes a three-dimensional digital model of the terrain and objects on its surface. Our LiDAR mapping systems allow a lot of customers operating in different spheres of activity to be more efficient and save time and money: roads, pipelines, power lines, real estate development, hydroelectric dams, city management, mines, railway tracks, etc. LiDAR technology is at the top of the list for carrying out 3D surveys of a territory. This cutting-edge technology is very precise, fast and economical.
Aerial photography
In addition to our laser scanning data collection, we produce color aerial orthophotos. An orthophoto is a photograph that has been corrected for all geometric distortions, thus allowing distortion-free measurements. This image allows you to observe a location as if you were perfectly vertical to it, regardless of its position on the orthophoto. It is possible to obtain the desired resolution, usually varying between 2 and 30 centimeters of precision per pixel, depending on the customer's needs.
Volumetry of sand-rock quarries
For many years, Mosaic 3D has carried out annual flights over quarries and sand pits for cities and municipalities. Comparing ground topographies between two years makes it possible to determine the volumes of material extracted from sites on their territory.
Based on our results, municipalities can validate whether the operator’s tonnage declarations are true and accurate.
Data collection flights can be carried out by drone, plane or helicopter. The results can be obtained by aerial photos or by LiDAR technology. At Mosaic 3D, we have the equipment and resources to offer all these options.
The advantage of LiDAR technology is to obtain topography even under forest cover. So, if an operator clears and excavates a new area, we will have the ground data before the excavation to make a calculation.
The advantage of using planes or helicopters is to be able to easily cover the entire lot and not just the exploited part. This makes it possible to validate if an operator removes material outside the main area. In addition, if a municipality has several sites to validate, they will all be carried out on the same day. This way, the results will always be taken very close to the reporting date of the operator.
The results obtained are mathematical, easily verifiable and difficult to contest. In the event of a dispute with an operator, a certified report by a Land Surveyor can be provided to you.
